Sādu: Teaming Up to Fight Climate Change
Living an eco-conscious lifestyle can be very complicated, or that’s what everyone made us believe. Stealth Mode alumni Brittany Salas and Elise Cannon have joined their forces to show how easy it can be.
What motivated you to apply to the Stealth Mode program?
Stealth Mode presented an opportunity to connect with a community of female leaders who share a passion for creating the future. It also gave us a chance to get to the Factory community and pre-seed startups from all around the world.
How has Stealth Mode helped you on your journey?
As a result of our shared passion Stealth Mode became a container to safely share our experience as early stage founders. The chance to openly share our experience, without an obligation to be performative, resulted in a sense of trust. This trust eventually laid the foundation of our founding team.
What’s Sadu? Give us your Elevator Pitch.
Sādu is an environmental and social governance (ESG) solution that gives companies the ability to reward active employees with trees. The app leverages smartwatches and fitness trackers to unite a sense of personal well-being to the health of the eco-system, allocating financial contributions to sustainability projects for every calorie burned.
How does it work? How does it create impact?
Download the app, sync Apple Health, FitBit or Strava and see climate positive rewards for reaching your daily activity goals. Daily activities can also be entered into the app directly. In order to ensure funding is allocated to a project of your choice, start a Crew and invite 10 – 50 members to a 30-day challenge. Crews compete against one another to see who can earn the most trees over 30 days and win a spot on the leaderboard. Companies interested in beginning their journey towards ESG can reach out to [email protected] for info on our employee engagement programs.
What role do you think ‘network’ has in empowering a founder’s journey?
One of the coolest things about founding a company is realizing what it takes to bring a vision to life. The journey will inevitably require a talent or skillset that was completely unexpected at the start. ‘Network’ is like a magic hat for founders. One day you might actually need a rabbit and if you think hard enough, you should be able to pull one out!
What’s your vision for the future of the tech industry?
For too long the concept of a healthy lifestyle has been separated from a healthy ecosystem. As society develops the technology and complex systems needed to efficiently allocate resources, the connection between personal and environmental sustenance is easily forgotten. Sādu was created in an effort to re-connect the individual with the ecosystem and leverage technology to improve well-being on both a personal and systemic level.
At Factory Berlin, our vision is to give every creator an empowering network, and as one of Europe’s strongest innovation communities, we have an unrivalled network of investors, corporates, experts, and more.
To empower future female, non-binary and underrepresented tech leaders, Factory Berlin brought together the best of our network to create Stealth Mode.
