Building a company is hard but building a company as a female founder is harder. Why? In Germany, women founders only make up 15.7% of the startup ecosystem and have to surmount considerable hurdles. These include gender bias in financing from investors and VCs, lower valuations and smaller investments, as well as exclusion from important networks that would help them grow and scale quicker. All of this despite study upon study showing that diverse teams are more productive and are more profitable. Is it that women are reluctant to found a startup? Are women still socialised differently? Or are the obstacles at times insurmountable? This panel looks at the importance of diversity and representation in entrepreneurship and how more women can be enticed to think of starting their own businesses. About Entrepreneur First Entrepreneur First is the world's largest talent investor. We bring extraordinary individuals together to meet co-founders, create companies, and get funding. We have helped 1000+ founders build 150+ companies, with a combined valuation of over $2 billion. Our major exits to date include Magic Pony, led by Rob Bishop and Zehan Wang, which was acquired by Twitter for a reported $150m only 18 months after the Founders met on the EF programme. EF is backed by Reid Hoffman (founder of LinkedIn), Greylock Partners, Mosaic Ventures, Founders Fund, Lakestar Capital, and DeepMind founders Demis Hassabis and Mustafa Suleyman. |

Sampling in music has been in existence since the 1960s, rose to prominence during the Golden Age of Hip Hop in the 80s, and is now considered an artform that forms the basis of most digitally produced music. While hardware samplers used to be the only way to access this technology, most Digital Audio Workstations now have powerful samplers built into their interface, making sampling widely accessible and providing producers with endless capabilites at a fraction of the cost. In this interactive masterclass 343 Labs founder and Ableton Certified Trainer Max Wild, will give an overview of sampling using Ableton Live, and show some of the many ways this technology has transformed music creation in the last 50 years. Topics covered include: Overview of sampling and popular sampling techniques, drum sampling, vocal sampling and chopping, sampling with MIDI, and online sample resources. |

How do you deal with uncertainty? Stress? Nightmare clients? The “new normal”? Resilience is the ability to handle and bounce back from adversity in different areas of your life and work. In this practical and humorous talk, Tom Hayton will introduce key principles of resilience that you can use to meet and absorb the challenges in your everyday life and work, based on over 15 years of international experience, often working in situations of rapid change and great uncertainty. In particular, he will draw upon his experience of the last five years working on projects in conflict zones (Syria, Palestine, and others), and some of the ideas in his book, “The Hustler’s Guide to the Pandemic”, which you can start using right away in your life and work. Tom will then show how these principles also apply to a much bigger cause: saving the planet. There will be time for Q&A! About the Speakers: Tom Hayton is a creative director, consultant, speaker and writer. About Factory Berlin: Factory Berlin is an ecosystem of over 3,000 members from more than 70 nations located on two campuses.
