Join us this Friday at Factory Berlin for CreativeMornings, a global breakfast lecture series that brings together the creative community in over 200 cities around the world. At CreativeMornings, each event is centered around a different theme, offering a chance for local creative minds to connect, share inspiration, and exchange ideas over coffee and breakfast.

The theme for November is Pattern, by Bernd Volmer, the founder of Show Me Fonts, a Berlin-based type foundry that’s dedicated to fonts with character and functionality.

What connects mathematical patterns with the world of typography? And how did an amateur mathematician’s fascination with tessellations lead to the creation of a variable font family? What makes a typeface versatile enough to function both as readable text and as a visual pattern?

Bernd’s talk uncovers the journey from Marjorie Rice’s work with tessellating pentagons to the creation of Marjoree, a type family designed by Catalogtree and Show Me Fonts.
